Hi,

My mom passed away recently . She left her house for me and my sister and 2 brothers . The house are on our names and we all live in the house together . In my mother’s testament she states that my sister is in charge to collect the municipality money and to pay them .

Now my sister says we must R500 a month rent and the money thats left must go for electricity . Now she doesn’t use the left over money for electricity she uses it for herself .

I want to know MUST I pay rent in my own house or must the municipality account be devided between the children and each give their share ?

Thank you in advance

I and my boyfriend was living with othert tenant in a house, but we did not Singh any agreements with the tenants but with the agency, we all were renting the house from. We gave notice as per our contract in writing and even more, dates than needed, we needed to move due to boyfriend losing his work and me being unable to afford our part of the rent on my own.

The lady at the agency said that we will lose our deposit due to us moving out before the lease is over.

I have done my part to get the tenant to take over my part of the lease but they keep turning the tenants away. Now a month after we all read moved out the lady that signed with us the contract is looking for R 2000 from me and has involved her son hoe has not signed the contract and have him threatening me by saying he is going to take me to court and sue me for R 10,000. I would like to know what can I do?

Good Day, I fall behind in rent. My landlord and switch our electricity off even though it is prepaid. This was two weeks ago. He said he has every right to do that. I explained to him that my daughter is a diabetic and her medicine has to stay at a certain temperature. He said that means nothing to him. Got home last night and he interested a ‘bird lock’ into the lock. So we could not get into the flat last night. He said he has ever right to do that. I have received no summons or court order.

Hi there. I am a landlord. My tenants lease expired in jan 2019. Thereafter I continued to accept rent, without a signed lease. On 29th April 2019 I gave me tenant notice of cancellation of lease, with keys to be handed over on 31 May. This was an attorney letter. On the 23rd May the tenant demanded 2 more months extension. Prior to that she did not request an extension. My first response was for her to provide a motivation for extension. She did not address the email. I have email And contactesld her by WhatsApp to let her know that I will gladly accommodate her requests but I need clarity on when exactly she will move out. The tenant is not answering any calls or responding to emails.

It is the end of May and the tenant has not addressed any emails or moved out. What rights do I have?
