I have an inquiry peratining to Labour Law. My wife started working for a pharmaceutical company 18 months ago, where she underwent 8 weeks worth of training before going in-field as a sales rep. Apparently there is a 3 year work back agreement to the amount of R800 000 for this training. We are leaving South Africa in December 2019, as such she has given notice already that her last work day will be on 8 November 2019.
Is she legally bound to pay back such an absurd amount? R800 000 in-house training for 8 weeks is a lot. The company has not provided her with a breakdown on these costs to confirm the amount.
