Please help. My son is now residing in America and only recently started working on a commission basis. He had to study and write subjects according to American policies.   He has a credit card and cheque account with a bank in South Africa where his commission from a local firm is being paid into. The commission is paid once properties are refistered. At present no funds were avaiable and in the next few months may discontinue. His credit card is now in arrears and the cheque account may follow in the furure.  I have discussed this with his private banker and the result is not satisfactory. I requested that the bank consolodate all his debt with them to a budget account whereby a nominal repayment is agreed with a review after six months. Their respone was the credit card could be taken into a budget account but not the cheque. His repayments to the bank would be + – R9500.00 per month!!! This is unreasonable and not affordable as he has living costs etc in America.
His income is also not stable as it relies on sales.  What option does he have please ? Do we approach a debt councilor or ??  Kind Regards Isabella
